Let’s KEEP your lawn beautiful this year

You’ve already invested in a Pro Green lawn, now it’s up to you that it stays eye-catching. Follow these watering and mowing tips to ensure you have the best lawn on the block.

When it comes to watering your lawn and plants, timing and preparation are key. The roots of your lawn and plants need water before dryness weakens them. In order to prevent damage to the appearance and health of your lawn, trees, bushes, and plants follow these simple recommendations.

Be sure that your grass is receiving water three or four times a week. Indiana lawns require one inch of water a week to sustain color and growth. Try to water your lawn in the early morning or late evening for best results. New grass should be kept moist, ideally receiving deep water two-three times a day. Plants will require a trickle of water every other day for an extended period of time.

Now let’s talk about mowing your lawn. Every spring you should be sharpening your mower’s blades and giving it a good tune up. You wouldn’t use a dull razor to cut your hair, so why would you use a dull blade on your grass? Blades should be sharpened monthly or as needed during the growing season. Make sure you set your cutting height to 3-3 ½ inches. Leaving your grass slightly longer will provide deeper root growth and prevent weeds from germinating.

By following these tips you will be on your way to that lush, green grass that will make you the envy of your neighbors. Should you need any assistance or have questions don’t hesitate to give us a call at 765-836-4866!
